I feel like all of the aspects of this show are really well done. From mystery, romance, action, it's all here and done way better then I initially thought it would.
Plot
Spirits and humans exist but don't get along or understand each other. 3 humans and 4 half spirts establish spirit affairs, solving mystery's and showing cooperation between spirts and humans along the way getting closer together as work partners and finding a mutual understanding for one another. I didn't expect the mystery element when it was introduced. An overarching mystery that has a slow build and a beautifully odd yet deeply sad conclusion. The romance element was very natural for all of the characters, the close friendship these characters build could've very well led to something more. It could go either way. The action is the first thing you see and it is still prominent through the rest of the series. The battles are well animated. You can see what is actually happening. There are no unnecessary blurs or effects or crazy camera angles.
Characters
The 2 main leads are Zakuro the half spirt, and Kei the human. The way that these characters are handled and interact with each other from the start to the end is so well done. Zakuro starts the series despising humans. She's very strong willed and stubborn. She's fierce and a protector. She has this strong cover over herself and isn't vulnerable with others, she pushed Kei away when they first met. Kei try's to keep himself together and keep his composure despite being deeply afraid of sprits. It fails quickly his fear and uncomfortably around the spirts shows. They both have these covers over themselves in a since, of toughness and fearlessness. For the same reason as to not show fear. Then through the show and the journey these characters take, they become more vulnerable with each other. Through the calm and comforting symbolism of a hug. Both characters being so relived that the other is okay and wanting to help them through there hurt. But a hug is all they can do in that moment.
Fanservice
none.
Soundtrack & visuals
for me, the soundtrack wasn't particularly memorable. I did really like the song Benibana no Otome Uta, which is sung by Hoozuki and Bonbori. It's a sweet bailed sung during some of the action scenes. The animation is great. I'm surprised how well, no matter what the scene, it is done really well. The characters never look off model. The character expressions are on point as well as movement of clothing and hair.
Sub or dub?
there is no dub but I think the subbed is great sounding. The voices match the characters really well and are quite expressive.
Ending
The ending was satisfactory, all of the story beats and character arcs ended neatly. If there was another season I'm sure more could be done with these characters.
Would I recommend it?
Yes. If you like these types of stories. If you have seen any other supernatural romance and liked it then you have a high chance of likening this.
overall a 10/10
